The Umoja project in Kenya found a benefactor who matched donations made by Rotary clubs and others on a dollar for dollar basis. We made a $5,000.00 donation to this project as well as paying $10,000.00 which had been withheld from previous years waiting for a matching grant or some other opportunity to maximise the advantage from the gift. The project, which gives orphans and other vulnerable children in Kenya a second chance in life, can now commence building a further home to accommodate an additional 12 children as well as providing the infrastructure which will make the home self sustaining.

The Club also donated $2,000.00 to Shelterbox and $3,000.00 to Rotarians against Malaria which provides bed nets to protect people from mosquito bites. The Board on the recommendation of the committee donated $4,000.00 to the Rotary Foundation.
